Excellent restaurant. I dunno whats wrong with the other guy, but this is one my favorite restaurants so I got to post this. We went there for a few times and everytime the food was delicious. Especially the peanut chicken. Staff is friendly and anticipating, even when you have special wishes. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Definetely a place where we will eat more often.

Not sure why the other three folks for the past year have given this place a high star rating, and although the food is so so for here in Germany it is by far nothing to write home about and is why I am writing here instead. Service was ok, but once again nothing special. We had Duck "Szechuan style" #68 and Ti-Pan Heiss Platte Shangri-La # B-4 which is a hot plate with chicken, beef, pork and king prawns. Food deserves half thumbs up as there was way too much MSG on B-4 and the king prawns were smaller than a 20 euro cent coin. Duck was so so but not nearly the quality you can find a other China restaurants throughout the region. Of note during this visit was being soaked for the bottled water at 2,300% mark up from what they paid for at the Getrank market. The charge was so out of the norm and we found out later when questioning the excessive price was that they charge per glass even though we ordered the bottle. In a year of going to many restaurants throughout Germany this was by far the most expensive bottled water ever consumed. At the going dollar to euro rate it figures out to about $9 per liter. In other words, it’s about the same price for a gallon of gasoline here in Germany. Average price that we have paid for the same size bottled water in every restaurant visited is around 3-4 euro and never ever more that 5 euro in the highest quality restaurants in Berlin. As this is not identified on the menu, note to service members in the area. If you are looking at being cheated and want to pay 2,300% mark-up on a bottle of water, then this is the place for you. It is far cheaper to go across the street to the Aral Gas station and purchase a liter of sparkling water for 1 euro and carry to the restaurant. At least at the gas station it's only a 300% mark up. Otherwise this place should be avoided at all costs especially if you are a service member living in the local Landstuhl area. Maybe it is just the local attitude with Americans living in the area, but over the past six months I have had a kid pick my pocket on the hauptstrass, and Pizzeria Taormina down the street tried to charge me an extra 8 euro for an item that I never ordered. Bottom line for the troops and dependents in the area, TAKE A LOOK at the bill before paying to ensure it adds up correctly and that local restaurant staff aren't over charging you simply because you are an American living in their country. Bottom line recommendation for Shangri-La in Landstuhl is to AVIOD it.
